Ralph Nader - "Don't Run This Year"

Ralph Nader has been an agent for change, a champion and advocate for the rights of the consumer and a watchdog of politics/ government. He is a man that has earned in his place on the political landscape. In 2000, he received up to 5% in some states as a Green Party candidate for the presidency of the United States. I might have voted for Nader had it not been for the fact that Vice President Gore was from my home state and my mother talked about his father's efforts for the civil rights of Blacks as well as Gore's record of eight years. If Gore had received the votes of Nader, he would have one the presidency in 2000.

Had he won the presidency, we wouldn't be in a war in Iraq. We would not have pulled out the troops in Afghanistan that had established a relationship with the Pashtun people in the area between Afghanistan and Pakistan where Osama bin Laden is known to be.Had he won the presidency, we would not have pulled out of the Kyoto Accord that every other industrialized nation is a part of to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Had he won, we would not have the worse record on the environment since the dawn of the Industrial Age.Had he won, we would not have had a tax cut that has yet to stimulate the economy or lost 2.4 million jobs.

Had he won, we would not have a Medicare bill that forbids Medicare for bargaining for the lowest price for prescription drugs.

So, we can not afford Ralph Nader to run this year. After Senator Kerry is president, maybe we can work toward a legitimate third party. Maybe the Greens, the Independents, the Libertarians and others can get together to create a third party with a viable candidate in 2012 or 2016.

But until then, either a Democrat will win in 2004 for a Republican. America need not suffer another four years of the Bush administration. Ralph Nader, please don't run this year.
