Holdup on Bolton Document Request Possibly American Companies

The holdup with the Senate receiving the requested documents concerning U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Bolton may very well be that they contain the names of American companies doing with business with countries on our enemies list. From the NYTimes via IHT:

The information that the White House has refused to provide Congress for its review into the nomination of John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations includes the names of companies mentioned in intelligence reports on commerce with China and other countries covered by export restrictions, according to officials briefed on the matter.

This would not come as a surprise as it is in keeping with one of the two main themes of the administration, "Protect Your Bottom Line." The bottom line for this administration is two-fold. One, your corporate friends that contribute thousands as well as fundraise thousands for re-election have interests that must be protected. So if that means withholding documents from the Senate, so be it. Two, you must appear to be right at all times so you "stick to your guns' even if it means forcing the nomination of a man to an organization of which he has gone beyond being critical to insulting and questioning the need for its existence.

Business as usual.
